I've regaled you all already about how bad my memory is, and how absent minded and just plain scatterbrained I can be. Well, the other day, it got so bad I began to wonder if I were losing it all together.

Friday was my day off, and I decided to take care of some chores. I started with a trip to Midas to get an oil change. Once I got there, I gave them my info, then decided to walk up the street to the nearby Mexican restaurant for some lunch while I waited. As I left, I grabbed my backpack out of the car. As I was eating, I got a call on my cell phone. It was Midas. Apparently, while getting my backpack, I had locked the car, and the keys were inside. That is something I've only done maybe once or twice since I've had this car. So, I walked back to Midas, where one of the mechanics was kind enough to give me a ride to my house to get my spare key. So now I waited in their lobby the whole time, since they hadn't been able to work on it while I was at lunch. So they got done, I paid them and left. Stop number 2 was to get some gas. As I was filling the tank, I noticed I'd left my keys in the car again. Fortunately, I had left the window rolled down, as well, so that disaster was averted. Besides, I still had my spare key in my pocket. I remember thinking how strange it was, since I habitually take my keys with me whenever I get out of the car. After I finished pumping, I noticed why I had left them in the car: I had actually left the car running! Everyone knows you don't pump gas while the car is still running. Fortunately, no explosions occurred. However, I did notice shortly after getting back in the car that my backpack wasn't there. I'd left it in the lobby of Midas! My cell phone, iPod, and camera were all in my backpack, so I was mildly panicking at the prospect of any of them going missing. So I drove back down there and picked it up. At this point I was ready to lock myself away before I did some harm to myself or others. So I ran my last errand, making a deposit at the bank, and did just that for the rest of the night. Fortunately, there were no casualties. This is all on the heels of getting a letter returned to me because I'd neglected to write the name of who it was intended for on it. I'm genuinely beginning to worry that my mind is going.

I've taken to taking long walks around downtown La Mesa with my camera on Saturdays recently. I rarely find anything of particular interest to photograph, but there are the ever present, and ever willing, flowers and bugs. I'll leave you with some recent shots.

earthShine is in the studio! We're finishing the world's slowest album. It'll be about 10 songs long when we're done. Then, one new year's resolution will be completed! The goal version of that, record 2 albums, has also made tremendous headway. More on that later...
