Reuben, Allan, Mike, Josh and perhaps even Jesse and I had begun talks about planning Bob 7 - Way back in 2001. At that time, no one could agree on a date, the window closed, and the idea died, for 7 more long  years. It's hard to believe that much time has gone by. More time than had passed between Bob 6 and 2001. One thing we did glean from those talks was this: Everyone definitely wanted to do it. I'm not sure what took us so long to bring it up again, but Reub threw it out there over Christmas vacation. The unanimous response was again an enthusiastic yes. This time, however, we got it done. Reub and I spent hours poring over house descriptions and layouts to choose our new base of operations at Sunset Beach, since we'd outgrown our original "Tranquility Base". Everyone, to our amazement, confirmed our chosen week, and paid their share of the house costs. To our utter delight, our dreams of adding Chris and Kelley to the festivities was even brought to fruition. While we were busy trying to figure out whether to ask Chris about the possibility of him bringing some recording gear, he was already listing off what he could bring. And then it struck us, We Can Record a Real Album Thingy. For those of you that appreciated our previous boom box recordings, I apologize in advance.

We recorded 12 songs. In true retrospective album nature, we chose 11 old favorites, and one token new song, which adds a critical chapter to the Monster N Canon. They are:

Song 1
Fuquay-Varina
Solo Run
Used to Be My Heaven
You Can See Our Teeth From Here
Ballad of the Fifty Foot David Bowie
Theme from Pigs
Alexander's Mediocre Day
The Lighted Hand of Saint Job
Pit
The Beautiful Nice Good Smart Chick Song
4:36 PM (New)

I already told of the Trip out there, and the trip back, somewhat. But, I promised Pictures, so here they be.

And they said Chad was too fat...

Recording in Progress

We at least succeeded in amusing ourselves.

We laugh at you and your storms, nature!

Dinner at Calabash!

Lunch at Beaches, that little diner I was telling you about.

And that was just the first day.

They Call it Sunset Beach for a reason.

Mike, on a cliff.

Alien landscape in Utah, on the way back.

3298.6 miles. And that was just the way back. Double that for the whole trip, around 6600 miles!
Some panoramas for your viewing pleasure:

Well, there you have it. Sometime shortly, I will announce the arrival of the pre-finalized tracks! We will then listen over them, and see if any further mixing is needed. Once we've all signed off on them, they will be released into the wild for you to observe and capture!

Since I got back from the trip, I kept dreaming that I was still there with all the guys. More recently I've had dreams of being on the road back to San Diego. I guess my subconscious has finally arrived back here by now. When the songs are ready, I'll clear out all previous Bob recordings from the Snocap store on the right side of the blog (which is also on the Bob MySpace page, and on my MySpace page), and post the new album. NEW ALBUM!
